The Change.org PETITION against the Illiana Tollroad “Stop the Illiana!” only needs 70 more signatures to reach the 500 signature goal. The PETITION is calling for Illinois legislators and executive to use their powers to stop the Illiana Tollroad from being built. The project is an environmentally, socially, and economically unsustainable and unpopular project.
At a time when the State of Illinois is in a dire fiscal situation and as part of the global community we find ourselves needing to pull back more from unsustainable living patterns, it makes little sense to invest huge sums of money in this project. That cost, which estimates expect will be close to if not more than $2 billion, could be better spent on a number of more vital rail, road, and infrastructure projects in Chicagoland on both the Illinois and Indiana sides of the state line.
It is imperative that residents of Illinois and Indiana express their discontent with this project and take advantage of the opportunity to show this is not just a populist move, but also something economic and environmental activists agree is an unsustainable project to go forward with.
If you haven’t already, sign the PETITION today and invite your family and friends to do the same.
